DASP Objectives

1. To provide opportunities for professional fellowship for the exchange of ideas and knowledge with members, interested parties, Legislative bodies, administrators, other persons who are in a position of significant relationship to School Psychology.

2. To advance the professional status of School Psychologists.

3. To promote and maintain high standards of professional Psychological service to pupils, parents, schools, and all other educational related consumers of Psychological Services.

What We Offer

DASP Offerings

DASP offers Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) to licensed school psychologists and psychologists.

DASP publishes a monthly newsletter called the DASP-O-Gram to communicate with the membership.

DASP a supportive peer environment and advocacy efforts that protect the profession, help keep schools safe, and more.

DASP Committee Descriptions

Membership Committee:

The membership committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the president with the approval of the Executive Board. The President shall designate the chair. It shall be the responsibility of the committee to assume responsibility for recruitment of new members, maintenance of updated membership rosters and determination of eligibility.


Program Committee:

The program committee shall consist of the President-elect as chair and members appointed by the Executive Board. It shall be the function of this committee to make arrangements for the programs of the Association.


Legislative Committee:

The legislative committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the president with the approval of the Executive Board. The President shall designate the chair. It shall be the function of the committee to collect and disseminate information of particular interest to school psychologists from federal, state, and local governments when such information is appropriate. This committee through the President shall recommend possible positions the Association might take on various laws or proposed laws that effect the field of school psychology.

A member of the legislative committee shall serve as liaison to other pertinent professional and labor organizations. This liaison member shall be appointed by the chairperson and approved by the president.


Newsletter Committee:

The newsletter committee shall consist of members appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board. The Editor of the DASP-O-GRAM and chair shall be the same person appointed by the president. It shall be the function of the committee to collect and disseminate information of particular interest to school psychologists to be shared in the DASP-O-Gram.


Ethics Committee:

The ethics committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the President with approval of the Executive Board. The President shall designate the chair. It shall be the function of this committee to collect and disseminate information primarily concerned with the ethical behavior of school psychologists. Such information shall be put in the form of Code of Ethics and distributed to the membership of the Association.


Social Committee:

The social committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the president with the approval of the Executive Board. It shall be the function of this committee to plan and coordinate the social functions of the Association.


Technology Committee:

The technology committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board. It shall be the function of this committee exists to continue and inform the work of the association that relates to all aspects of technology, from the way through which technology is used to conduct association business to the use of technology by individuals with disabilities and tools used by school psychologists; address emerging issues in the use of different types of technology be it hardware or software; provide timely guidance documents to members on technology-related issues/equipment; review web resources and platforms used on www.dasponline.net making recommendations as needed; function as an association “help desk” on aspects of technology, its use for professional responsibilities, and its use by people with disabilities.


Professional Development Committee:

The professional development committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board. It shall be the function of this committee to evaluate and develop/recommend means to address and foster professional competency of DASP members; review and recommend methodologies used for professional development; explore collaborative professional development offerings with other entities to include colleges and universities and other professional organizations; assess association resources used for dissemination of professional information and make recommendations as appear appropriate. This committee will function to augment, support and inform the work of the association’s responsible for overseeing the direct implementation and management of all professional development initiatives sponsored by DASP. The committee will consult with and collaborate with other committees and the Board of Directors to fulfill its mission and vision.


Diversity Committee:

The diversity committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board. It shall be the function of this committee to develop awareness among members and the association in general about diversity in relation to all aspects of the association, its business, members and practices; to assess means through which the association is represented and inclusive of diversity; to foster inclusion of all members within the association equally and with equity; to ensure that association events and activities are inclusive and responsive to needs of diverse constituencies; to evaluate member resources for sensitivity; to provide members with resources to promote inclusive environments for all students in the K-12 community including especially students with disabilities.


Student Intern Committee:

The student intern committee shall consist of members of the Association appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board. It shall be the function of this committee is to serve as a liaison between DASP and the School Psychology students interning in Miami Dade County Public Schools. The goal is to serve prospective school psychology students by providing information about the profession, answering questions about practical experiences, and addressing any other needs or ideas a student may present. In addition, this committee hopes to serve current graduate students by creating open lines of communication so students can share any personal or professional concerns, needs, or ideas related to issues in School Psychology.
